Richard Peck


Richard Peck's career began in music publishing in the 1970s. He subsequently held senior management positions with educational and technology publishers, including McGraw-Hill, O'Reilly Media, and Markt+Technik. Richard headed business development for the team that created one of the first Internet-startups sold to AOL. He and his wife, Susan, subsequently formed a Web strategy consultancy, advising companies in California, Germany, and Istanbul, Turkey.

During his publishing and technology career, Richard traveled the major wine regions of the world including France, Germany, Italy, Australia, and New Zealand. In 2002, as a consequence of this lifelong interest in fine wine, Richard joined the staff at Chateau St. Jean Winery in Kenwood, CA. In 2004, Richard and Susan moved to South Carolina to be closer to children and in grandchildren. In 2005, joined Table 301.

Richard is a Certified Sommelier (Court of Master Sommeliers) and sat for the Court's Advanced Sommelier examination in 2007. He also is a Certified Specialist of Wine (Society of Wine Educators). He has written four books, two on the music industry, along with Crossing America, a motorcycling narrative. He also is a co-author of Soby's New South Cuisine cookbook, published by Table 301 in 2007. He is a runner and cyclist, having completed the Chicago Marathon in 2002 and numerous century rides (100 miles or more) as a cyclist. He is an instrument-rated multiengine pilot. He holds a B.A. in English and Education from the University of Kentucky, and an M.B.A. from the University of South Carolina.
